Minnesota springball weekend review
The Minnesota basketball attention was focused on the Magic Invite this past weekend where 51 teams from five states took part in a three day event. Minnesota Select won the 16 and Under event as David Hanson proved why he is one of the state's top sophomores.
He took the title game over in the clutch scoring three baskets in the final minutes including a buzzer-beating jumper.
The upset of the tournament proved to be in the 17 and Under finals when Magic Gold beat the Magic Elite behind the play of Lakeville South stars Marcus Brumm, Brady Soule and Brady Sorenson. Also big was a second half scoring surge from Tyler Nicolai of Hopkins.
The Minnesota Select 16s group won their age bracket as Hanson hit a jumper at the buzzer. David was huge in the final two minutes but it was a total team effort. Even though Jordan Taylor and Armond Battle were away (they were playing at a national tournament with Pulley White in Dallas), this group still had enough talent to get things done.
